The Phenomenal One vs The Beast! After a surprise victory over Jinder Mahal in Manchester, A.J. Styles has had one thing on his mind… beating Brock Lesnar. Styles has never faced Lesnar before, so this will be a new challenge for the champion. Styles makes no excuses about size or stature, he is looking for a fight and will get one.

At match start, Styles hasn’t been able to get offense. Lesnar set off many suplexes. Styles then comes back with several punches and a DDT. Lesnar is down. Styles sets off an ensiguri. Both men are down. Styles comes back with a Pele kick. Styles tried a Phenomenal Forearm, but got another suplex. Lesnar goes for a punch and Styles heaves him over the rope on the floor. Styles hits a Phenomenal Forearm to Lesnar over the rope. Styles hits another Phenomenal Forearm off of the steps. Back in the ring, both men send punches. Styles moonsaults right on Lesnar. OnE Springboard 450 Splash and a cover. TWO!!! Lesnar gets a Calf Crusher. He sends Styles head to the mat to break the hold. A.J. hits another Phenomenal Forearm!!! TWO!!! Styles takes off the elbow pad to get another Phenomenal Forearm. Lesnar catches him with an F8. For more on this Phenomenal match, check out what WWE.com has to say.

AJ Styles’ return to the WWE Championship was a Cinderella story in and of itself. But thanks to Brock Lesnar, the clock struck midnight at Survivor Series.

The Phenomenal One’s upending of Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion didn’t only book him a date with The Beast Incarnate, it threw Lesnar on a collision course against an opponent whose tangible skills (speed, stamina) seemed tailormade to exploit The Conqueror’s supposed deficiency: A will that, if you ask Daniel Bryan, is easier to break than Paul Heyman generally acknowledges.

Lesnar seemed to take that assessment of his skills personally, opening the match with an extended display of savagery that included palming Styles’ head as he threw him across the ring, a German suplex that nearly sent The Phenomenal One through the arena roof and a running knee to a corner-bound Styles.

What got AJ back in the game was his “elusive and abusive” speed, as a cocky Lesnar went for another knee and missed, slamming the cartilage into the turnbuckle and opening the door for The Phenomenal One to go to work. Targeting Brock’s knees, Styles left The Beast on shaky ground and began to pick him apart with quick strikes designed to place doubt into the mind of The Conqueror. A brief fight outside the ring left Brock crawling for purchase after Styles administered a series of flying forearms, and a springboard 450 landed a long two-count on the Universal Champion.

Perhaps the biggest boost to Styles’ confidence was that he managed to evade the F-5 at every turn, most significantly when he reversed it into a Calf Crusher that very nearly accomplished the impossible and submitted The Beast. That was until Brock snaked his massive arm around Styles’ throat and slammed him repeatedly into the mat to break the hold. Yet the move did its job, as Lesnar again tried to hoist Styles up on wobbly knees for his signature move and The Phenomenal One slipped off his shoulders for a Phenomenal Forearm.

Unfortunately, what would have been a surefire finishing strike landed Styles exactly where Lesnar wanted him, as a second attempt at the Phenomenal Forearm delivered the WWE Champion directly atop Lesnar’s shoulders, where the ensuing F-5 spelled the end of the match.

The result, of course, is bound to leave a bitter taste in Styles’ mouth and a sweet one in Mahal’s as he awaits his rematch. But if the state Lesnar was in following his victory — clutching his knee in pain, limping slowly into the locker room and regarding his fallen opponent with new eyes — was any indication, it’s fair to say this match played out more like a “Rocky” movie than Paul Heyman thought it would.

AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal have been in a really intense feud over these past few weeks. With Mahal set to defend his WWE Title against “The Phenomenal One” this coming Tuesday, the two men went toe-to-toe with each in Aberdeen in a non-title match.
AJ Styles managed to defeat “The Modern Day Maharaja” on the night and gained a major boost heading towards their title match this Tuesday on Smackdown Live.

The main event was a precursor to this week’s SmackDown main-event where Jinder Mahal will defend his WWE Championship against AJ Styles.

Unfortunately for Jinder, things did not go well for him on this night as he was soundly defeated by the much more popular AJ Styles.

AJ Styles is all set to face Jinder Mahal tomorrow night on Smackdown Live for the WWE Championship, but the two men squared off in a non-title match in Lisbon last night.
The match itself was decent but as expected The Singh Brothers made their presence felt as they tried to distract Styles, but “The Phenomenal One” was resilient enough to fend off Samir and Sunil and managed to overcome “The Modern Day Maharaja” by beating him on the night.

Finally in the Main Event, there was a triple threat match for the WWE Championship. AJ Styles defended against Shinsuke Nakamura and Jinder Mahal. Mahal was introduced by the Singh brothers and they were at ringside throughout the match and even took a double beating at the hands of Nakamura and Styles. At one point, there was a number of false finishes via Schoolboy pins by each man as Styles would pin Mahal, only to be pinned by Nakamura, only to be pinned by Mahal etc. I think i counted 7 pins before they moved on with the match. Styles ended up picking up the win after hitting Mahal with a Phenomenal forearm for the pin. After the match, Styles hit the styles clash on one singh brother and Nakamura hit the other with the Kinshasa. Afterwards the celebrated together and Nakamura handed Styles the belt and shook his hand before raising it.

Jinder might have been looking for some revenge after Styles defeated him for the WWE Championship in last week’s SmackDown. The pair were joined by Nakamura, who was also looking to pick up the title for the first time.
Styles still came out on top of the match, like he did a couple of nights ago in Leeds, as he retained the title as he prepares to face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a champion vs champion clash.

Since winning the WWE Title last Tuesday in Manchester, AJ Styles has already defended the belt in a few marquee matches on this European tour and last night was no different when he shared the ring with “The Artist” and the former champion Jinder Mahal, who was looking for retribution.

The triple threat match was great and possibly the best match on the night; both Styles and Nakamura had some great sequences and also have great chemistry with each other inside the ring. However, it was AJ Styles who managed to retain his WWE Title after pinning the “The Maharaja” Jinder Mahal on the night.

A.J. Styles and the rest of the SmackDown Live brand made a close to 18 hour journey to South America to work a few shows in Argentina and Chile. As soon as the stars landed in Argentina, they soon became aware of a huge superstar shakeup that would affect both the international tour and the upcoming pay per view TLC. Which superstars would be affected and who would be pulled from their shows to substitute for another? Huge names such as Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns were going to miss the Raw brand pay per view TLC, and WWE knew that they needed big names to replace them.

On Thursday night, while in Buenos Aires, Argentina, A.J. Styles received the call. He was told to compete in Argentina and one show in Chile. After the show in Chile, he was to hop on a plane immediately to fly back to the states to work the TLC pay per view against The Demon Finn Balor.

If you missed any of the crazy roller coaster of events this weekend, check below for full highlights.

Night 2 – Buenos Aires, Argentina ( October 20th)

AJ Styles & The New Day vs Rusev & The Usos
After missing night one of the South America tour, AJ Styles returned to action and graced the ring before the Buenos Aires crowd when he teamed up with the New Day. On the other hand, fans witnessed Smackdown Tag Team Champions, The Usos team up with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev.

This match was probably the best match of the night; we had two of the best tag teams in the company, alongside two of the best athletic superstars in WWE. Both these teams absolutely stole the show and it was AJ Styles and the New Day who walked out victorious on the night.

AJ will be in action at TLC where he will replace Bray Wyatt in the match against Finn Balor.

AJ Styles joins the show. He admits his match with Finn Balor had no buildup, but was good just the same. Styles runs down the process to getting to WWE TLC. He got the call, performed Friday night, got on a plane right afterward, and competed tonight. He says they created a special match even with no buildup and seems to be proud of their effort. Styles said he was happy to see the positive response from fans once the match was announced. Rosenberg notes that ultimately Styles lost the match. Styles said he makes no excuses and has fought demons his entire life and spiritually wouldn’t let them cripple him, and won’t let this demon cripple him either. When asked about Survivor Series, Styles says SD Live has the best roster, possibly ever, and they have a lot of hungry guys and girls to put on the best show period. Styles reiterates he couldn’t pass up this opportunity as he makes his exit.

Backstage Segment

Dean Ambrose is watching the monitor, and AJ Styles walks in and tells him that if everyone just follows him, they’ll get a win.  Dean says he knows AJ is just going to slam a metal chair into his back, but in two weeks at TLC, his fantasies become AJ’s nightmare.  Shane McMahon comes in and says they can settle this in two weeks, but they need a win tonight and he needs everyone on the same page.

Men’s Elimination Match: Team Raw (Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman) vs Team Smackdown (AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, and Shane McMahon)

The champions start off, and they go at it until all the other partners get in, and Rollins and Reigns start to team up against Team Smackdown.  Shane tags in and cleans house, then AJ and Ambrose wind up working together to clear out the ring…but then they turn their attention on each other and start brawling.  Shane McMahon tries to separate them, AJ nails Ambrose from behind, and Strowman comes in and hits a running powerslam to eliminate Ambrose.

Dean Ambrose has been eliminated.

Strowman drags Shane into the ring, and Shane unloads with a flurry of pounches, but Strowman is too big and crushes Shane with a splash in the corner.  AJ tries for a Phenomenal forearm, but Strowman knocks him to the floor, then flattens Orton when he tries to come in.  Bray Wyatt is in and goes face to face with Strowman, and Wyatt tells Strowman to attack Team Raw, and he goozles Jericho, then lets him go and clotheslines Wyatt’s had off.  Strowman knocks Wyatt to the floor with a diving dropkick.  Strowman goes after Wyatt and rams him into the ring apron.  Orton gives Strowman an RKO into the announce table, then helps Wyatt up and they put Strowman on the table and Shane comes off the top rope with an elbowdrop to Strowman that sends them both through the table.  The brawl continues on the floor, and AJ Styles dumps Shane back into the ring, but James Ellsworth holds Strowman’s foot from under the ring to prevent him from getting back in, and Strowman gets counted out.

Braun Strowman is eliminated.

Strowman beats Ellsworth up to the top of the ramp and tosses him off the stage into some production equipment before walking to the back.  Owens is in the ring and working Shane over, does the Shane dance, and covers for 2.  Jericho tags in and dropkicks Shane for 2, he goes for a Lionsault, but Shane gets the knees up and gets a small package on Jericho for 2.  Jericho hits a Codebreaker on Shane, another on Randy Orton, and he covers Shane for 2.  Rollins tags in and puts the boots to Shane, then Jericho tags in and comes off the top with a splash that misses, and Shane tags Styles in.  Styles goes to work on Jericho and hits an over the knee neckbreaker for 2.  Jericho blocks the Styles Clash and goes for the Walls of Jericho, Styles breaks free and gets the Calf Crusher, and Jericho rams AJ’s head into the mat and goes for the Walls again, Styles reverses to a small package, Styles unlaods with a series of strikes, nails Owens on the apron, goes for the Styles Clash, but Owens comes in and nails styles with Jericho’s list and hits him with Jericho’s list.  He gives styles the pop-up powerbomb as the referee calls for the DQ.

Kevin Owens is eliminated.

We’re down to 4-on-3, and Jericho is feverishly trying to put his list back together as Styles tags Orton, who comes in and hits Jericho with the RKO for 3.

Chris Jericho is eliminated.

We’re down to Reigns and Rollins against almost the entire Smackdown team.  Reigns looks at Rollins and says “let’s do this”, and Rollins goes after Orton, but eats a snap powerslam for 2.  Wyatt tags in and unloads on Rollins, and Rollins os caught in the wrong part of town.  Orton superplexes Rollins, and both men make tags and in comes Reigns and Styles, and Reigns is dominant.  Reigns hits a splash mountain for 2, but he comes in for the Superman Punch and Styles hits a Pelle kick.  Shane tags in and opens up on Reigns, and hits a floatover DDT.  Shane dodges a double stomp from Rollins, gives him a spinebuster, then rams Reigns into the ringpost.  Shane goes to the top rope and goes for a Van Terminator, but Reigns hits him with a spear on the way down.  He makes a cover and Shane gets his shoulder up at 2.  The referee checks on Shane and appears to injury default him out.

Shane McMahon is eliminated.

Okay good, Shane couldn’t even do a clean loss after taking that.  Wonderful.  Wyatt hits Reigns with a senton for 2, and now Reigns is the one caught in the wrong corner.  Reigns breaks free and tags Rollins in, and he goes to work on Styles and hits a Blockbuster.  Styles backdrops Rollins to the apron, but Rollins hits an enziguiri and a springboard forearm, then he takes Wyatt out with a dive to the floor, a series of corner charges on AJ, and he goes to the top on AJ, but AJ slips out, nails Rollins and goes to the top, but Rollins hits him with a Pelle kick of his own.  Rollins superplexes Styles, picks him up and goes into a falcon arrow, and Orton breaks it up at 2.  Rollins dumps Orton to the floor, but goes for a dive and Orton nails him.  Reigns saves Rollins from a DDT on the floor, and the former Shield members put the boots to Orton on the floor.  Rollins slaps Reigns on the back, they clear off the announce table, but Styles comes in before they can go for the Shield powerbomb.  Ambrose runs back into the ring and attacks AJ Styles, and a slew of referees try to eject Ambrose, but he goes back after Styles and rams him into the ring steps.  Security finally gets Ambrose out of there, but Reigns and Rollins go after security and let Ambrose free.  Against all odds, the former Shield is working together to fight off security, then they give AJ the triple powerbomb through the announce table.  Rollins dumps Styles back into the ring and covers him for the win.

AJ Styles has been eliminated.

BIG elimination there, and now we’re even with Reigns and Rollins against Orton and Wyatt.  Luke Harper suddenly comes out of nowhere, and he distracts the Shield wihle Wyatt and Orton sneak attack them.  Orton and Reigns go at it on the floor while Wyatt and Rollins fight in the ring.  Harper rams Reigns into the post while Rollins hits a slingblade on Wyatt, then takes Harper out with a dive.  Rollins hits Orton with an enziguiri, superkicks Wyatt, but comes off the top rope right into an RKO from Orton, and Wyatt covers Rollins for 3.

Seth Rollins is eliminated.

Roman is by himself now against Orton and Wyatt, with Harper on the floor.  Reigns Superman punces Orton off the apron and takes Wyatt out to the floor, and he fights both men off and rams Wyatt into the barricade, then hits him with a drive-by.  Reigns spears Harper, comes back into the ring, blocks Sister Abigail, hits Wyatt with a Superman punch, and sets for the spear.  Orton shoves Wyatt out of the way and eats the spear, and Wyatt quickly hits Sister Abigail and covers for 3.

Winners: Team Smackdown

Survivors: Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton
