AJ Styles walks in the back as we go to commercial.

AJ Styles is in the ring and he says it wasn’t long ago that he cared about one person. After winning the WWE Championship for the second time, he sees the world a little differently. AJ says he is the WWE Champion, but here is the thing. It is a grind to get here and it made him think about being somewhere else trying to get here. The grind continues two years later. That makes him think about Fastlane. He does not have to get pinned to lose this championship. What a surprise, the odds are stacked against him. AJ says he will not cry and complain saying it is not fair. The hell with fair. AJ says he is going to fight.

This is Smackdown, the house that AJ Styles built. The thing is that no matter how much we train or how hard we try, life gets the best of us. Some times we don’t win. Last week, John Cena pinned him clean in the middle of the ring. The thing is that John Cena is world class. He did not need any motivation but John is never at a loss for words and we see what John said on Raw about becoming a 17 time World Champion.

John is not the only one who needs to win at Fastlane to pave his road to Wrestlemania. That is not what he wants. AJ says that is not what you want either. AJ says he wants his Wrestlemania moment. That is taking the most prestigious title in the business against the best at Wrestlemania. AJ says he wants Shinsuke Nakamura. Who would have dreamed that this match would ever happen in the WWE. AJ says he is not just fighting for himself, he is fighting for us. It will be nothing short of phenomenal.

Shane says you think we are going to see a tag team match and that would be awesome, but they want to bring the best to Smackdown. Since we are a few days away from Fastlane. Why not have AJ Styles versus Dolph Ziggler versus Kevin Owens versus Sami Zayn versus this man to make it a Fatal Five Way?

A PHENOMENAL ENCOUNTER! AJ Styles has had his words come back to bite him in so many ways as of late. Due to the shenanigans of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, Styles has to now defend his championship in a #Fatal5Way match at Fastlane. AJ opens the show tonight saying he’s beaten everyone in the match besides Baron Corbin. Corbin came out to make sure Styles knew about their last encounter where he beat him. What will happen when AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin takes place in the main event?

WWE.com has all the latest highlights about AJ Styles’ night.

With what might be his greatest challenge as WWE Champion fast approaching, AJ Styles kicked off SmackDown LIVE to discuss his Fatal 5-Way Match at WWE Fastlane, declaring that he is always in control of his own destiny (even in a match that doesn’t require him to be pinned or submitted to lose his title). The Phenomenal One reminded the WWE Universe that he has defeated Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler, and he seemed primed to mention Baron Corbin’s name … until The Lone Wolf hit the scene.

Corbin reminded Styles that he had come away victorious the last two times they competed and seemed confident in his ability to do it again (or claim a win over anyone else) to become the new champion at WWE Fastlane. Irritated by the claims made by Styles and Corbin, KO hit the scene and claimed that the issues between him and Zayn caused KO to lose to Corbin last week. Owens suggested that he would’ve come out on top if he had all night to prepare, like Zayn did for Ziggler.

SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon then arrived to give KO that exact opportunity, first making Styles vs. Corbin in the main event and then Owens vs. Ziggler next on SmackDown LIVE!

An old rivalry was rekindled on SmackDown LIVE, as Baron Corbin attempted to make a major statement against WWE Champion AJ Styles in a non-title contest, with the Fatal-5 Way Match at WWE Fastlane casting a large shadow.

Corbin, who had come out on top against Styles the last two times they faced, competed with confidence because of his track record. The Lone Wolf used his size and strength advantages to wear Styles down, making it difficult for the WWE Champion to get rolling with his explosive offense. However, as he always does, Styles rallied, breaking free from The Lone Wolf’s clutches, taking to the skies and putting him down for three following an utterly Phenomenal Forearm.

The Phenomenal One would have no time to celebrate, however, as Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn hit the ring and pounced on Styles, knocking him out of the squared circle. KO followed Styles’ limp body to the outside, while Zayn stayed inside the ring. The tides quickly turned, though, when Corbin found a burst of energy and dropped an unsuspecting Zayn with End of Days. Owens, noticing this, hit the ring to attempt to avenge his best friend, but he felt a similar fate, also succumbing to The Lone Wolf’s End of Days.

Corbin lost the battle, but he proved that there is a lot of road left to go before anyone wins the war at WWE Fastlane.

Kevin and Sami prepare to corner Nakamura, but AJ’s music plays and he makes his way to the stage.

AJ says you can cry and complain all you want, but there will be a dream match in New Orleans on the grandest stage of them all. It will be between him and Shinsuke Nakamura. Right here, right now, in Philly, on the House that AJ Styles Built, AJ suggests they turn this dream match into a dream team and take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn tonight.

Kevin leaves the ring and so does Sami. Kevin say something to Sami and Sami says if you really want this match . . . NOPE!

Styles and Nakamura with forearms to knock Kevin and Sami off the apron.

Nakamura is in the locker room and AJ stops by and he asks if they want to discuss their game plan. Nakamura says he is going to win at Wrestlemania. AJ reminds Nakamura about their match tonight. Nakamura says he is going to beat AJ at Wrestlemania. AJ asks if Nakamura is messing with him and Nakamura says he is messing with him and he tells AJ to listen to him.

WWE.com has a full summary on “The Dream Match” opponents AJStyles & Shinsuke Nakamura joint Forces.

This dream tag team match proved to be as unpredictable as it was exciting, as AJ Styles & Shinsuke Nakamura joined forces to face off against Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in Team Blue’s thrilling main event. However, a major wrench was thrown into the situation earlier in the evening when SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan announced that Kevin Owens would square off against Sami Zayn next week, and the winner would challenge Styles for the WWE Championship at the next SmackDown LIVE pay-per-view, WWE Fastlane.

It appeared Owens & Zayn had put their looming showdown next week in the back of their minds when the opening bell rang for their monumental clash with Styles & Nakamura. However, the looming contest couldn’t be forgotten for long, as Owens angered Zayn, prompting Zayn to briefly leave Owens by his lonesome. Zayn returned, but the dissension between the two “Yep!” Movement members remained apparent, causing Zayn to leave for a second time!

With Sami gone, Owens could not overcome the numbers game and fell to Nakamura’s pinpoint Kinshasa. Renee Young caught up with Zayn backstage to ask him if we had just seen the end of The “Yep!” Movement. Sami answered with an emphatic no, but he also made it clear that he planned on exiting KO’s shadow next week on SmackDown LIVE when he defeated him to become the next challenger for AJ Styles’ WWE Title at WWE Fastlane.

Phenomenal Odds! Last week on SmackDown Live, AJ Styles was once again on the long sing side against Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens. He was so angry that he inadvertently said that he should face both Zayn & Owens at once.
Daniel Bryan granted Styles wish at the Royal Rumble.

Styles opened SmackDown Live with a sit down interview with Renee Young. Young asks him about him putting his foot in his mouth. He avoids the question. He says no the match is not fair, but neither is life.

Shane McMahon eventually comes out and says no it’s not fair so tonight let’s have a handicap match tonight. It’ll be Styles, Nakamura and Orton vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.

This main event just became Phenomenal! Styles was tagged in and set off rapid fire hits and kicks on Owens. During the match, it seemed as Owens & Zayn got the best on the trio. Then fate would have it that Orton, Nakamura and Styles would get the upper hand.

Zayn and Owens would run away, but Commissioner Shane McMahon would stop that as he made it a no count out match.

The trio of Orton, Nakamura and Styles meet up with Owens & Zayn. They were on a roll until Owens bought in a chair as an equalizer. Shane McMahon reappeared and made the match a No disqualification, no count out anything goes match. Styles then runs Owens away with a chair and disappears backstage as Nakamura & Orton take out Zayn with steel steps, a kinshasaa & An RKO for the win.

For more on this start and stop Match, check out what WWE.com has to say below.

WWE Champion AJ Styles kicked off SmackDown LIVE with an in-ring interview conducted by Renee Young. Styles vented about the position Team Blue General Manager Daniel Bryan put him in last week when he placed The Phenomenal One into a 2-on-1 Handicap Match against Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn with the WWE Title on the line at Royal Rumble. Styles stressed that he was trying to keep himself removed from the beef between Bryan and Shane McMahon, but he didn’t sound overwhelmingly thrilled with either.

Before he could continue to expand, however, he was interrupted by his Royal Rumble opponents. The “Yep!” Movement, in no uncertain terms, claimed that they would beat Styles down at Royal Rumble and go on their way to becoming co-WWE Champions. However, their dreams quickly came crashing back down to earth by the arriving Shane-O-Mac. The Commissioner revealed that they would be in yet another Handicap Match against Styles … just with Shinsuke Nakamura & Randy Orton as The Phenomenal One’s partners.

AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura & Randy Orton def. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

In the complete inverse of what WWE Champion AJ Styles will have to face at the Royal Rumble event, The Phenomenal One teamed up with Shinsuke Nakamaura & Randy Orton to take on the undermanned Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in the main event of SmackDown LIVE.

The “Yep!” Movement did their best to keep it competitive in the early goings, but then finally chose to walk off and take the count-out loss. However, Shane McMahon refused to see the match conclude in such anti-climactic fashion and came out to announce that the bout would now be no count-out. Shane-O-Mac had to pop in again when KO & Sami tried to get themselves disqualified after Owens assaulted his opponents with a steel chair, leading Shane-O-Mac to declare that this was now also a No Disqualification Match.

Styles retaliated by pelting KO with a chair in an attack that led both men to the backstage area. From there, Sami was left to tangle with Orton and Nakamura all by his lonesome, and he soon became the recipient of a steel steps attack and was driven into the announcer’s table. That all led to the reeling Zayn eating both a Kinshasa and an RKO for a crushing, albeit controversial, loss.

A Stylin’ Victory! AJ Styles has defended his WWE Championship against all comers as of late. He had to deal with the Modern Day Maharaja and The Singh Brothers for weeks. Now that they are in his past, he has to deal with the Kevin Owens Sami Zayn duo.

During Styles vs Owens, Styles came out on fire. He even caught Owens in a Calf Crusher but Owens got to the ropes. No matter what Styles did, it seemed as Owens always fought through it. Sami Zayn decided to jump on the ring and distract the referee. When Shane came out to throw Zayn out, Styles rolled up Owens as the crowd counted to three. The referee and AJ got into a little argument about the rollup when Owens slid behind Styles to roll him up for the three count.

WWE.com has all the latest on what happened during the match.

It’s probably fitting for the last SmackDown LIVE match of 2017 to end in absolute chaos. WWE Champion AJ Styles and Kevin Owens (with Sami Zayn in his corner) threw down in this chaotic main event.

During the match, Styles went to dive onto Owens on the outside the ring, though KO got out of the way, and AJ instead connected with Zayn. With Styles gearing up for the Phenomenal Forearm moments later, Zayn got on the apron to try and prevent AJ’s attack. Styles swung and missed at Zayn, who hopped off the apron, which prompted SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon to hit the scene to get the official to eject Zayn from ringside.

As Shane-O-Mac, Sami and the official had words, Styles caught Owens in a small package that very well could have scored him the victory. However, since the referee was preoccupied with Zayn and Shane, AJ relinquished the small package to try and regain the official’s attention. The distraction left Styles vulnerable, and KO turned the tide by rolling Styles up for the win. After the contest, Owens and Zayn celebrated as The Phenomenal One shot a look to the Commissioner as he exited up the ramp, though Shane appeared to offer an apology to the WWE Champion.

The war is clearly ongoing, but the final battle of 2017 was awarded to Owens & Zayn.

A Phenomenal Dream Team! With his amazing victory at Clash of Champions, AJ Styles has finally put Jinder Mahal behind him. Without knowing who his next opponent will be, Styles continues to put in the work and represent the brand as the phenomenal champion he is. Tonight on SmackDown, he teams with Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton to take on Kevin Owens % Sami Zayn and Jinder Mahal (with The Singh Brothers).

Back from commercial break, the match gets underway. After Orton gets ahead, Zayn and Owens come in to stop it. Styles and Nakamura are on it and ready to end Zayn and Owens. Styles tags in from Nakamura and go to work on Sami Zayn. Styles takes down Zayn and tags out. Styles, Nakamura and Orton kept up with Mahal, Owens and Zayn, especially when the Singh brothers tried to interfere and got banned from ringside. For WWE.com’s side of the story check out what they had to say below!

In a star-studded main event, WWE Champion AJ Styles teamed with Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura to take on Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn, with The Singh Brothers lurking at ringside in a thrilling rematch from Tribute to the Troops.

With wounds still cutting deep in the aftermath of WWE Clash of Champions, all six Superstars came in with tempers boiling and ready to pop off with punches. The integrity of the barnburner contest was compromised when The Singh Brothers tried to get involved even after they had been ejected from ringside. The Singhs got a double DDT from Orton for their efforts (just after The Modern Day Maharaja ate an RKO from The Viper), Owens felt the effects of a Phenomenal Forearm from Styles (with Orton adding to The Phenomenal One’s mid-air momentum with a shove) and Zayn was felled by a bone-crushing Kinshasa from The King of Strong Style, who scored the 1-2-3 to give his squad the main event W.

AJ Styles music hits to open up SmackDown Live officially. He is making his way to the ring. Microphone in hand (The crowd is chanting AJ Styles) He says all he has been thinking about is defending his championship against Jinder Mahal. He talks about Jinder holding his title for 6 months and how we was able to do so with the help of The Singh Brothers.

Singh Brothers interrupt AJ Styles. They say at this time they will not introduce Jinder and show what Mahal did to them last week. AJ says to them he feels sorry and tells the Singh Brothers to come down to the ring to hug it out. AJ then actually hugs it out with the Singh Brothers. The Singh Brothers say that they actually want to be in AJ’s corner, not Jinder Mahal. The Singh Brothers say they are done with Jinder, that he’s a disgrace to the people of India. AJ says it does sound like they have real beef with Jinder, but then AJ asks why they were by his side in India this past weekend? AJ then asks are you with Jinder or against him? The Singh Brothers say they are done with Jinder Mahal. Jinder Mahal’s music hits and he comes out towards the ring. AJ Styles says he doesn’t believe the Singh Brothers are done with them, and attacks both Brothers. AJ then calls Jinder inside the ring as he laid down his title. Jinder stepped up onto the apron, but backed off and assisted the Singh Brothers. The segment ended with AJ & Jinder staring each other down.

Back stage Interview with Renee & AJ Styles

We take a look back at what AJ Styles did to the Singh Brothers earlier in the show.

Renee Young is with AJ Styles in the back.  Renee asks AJ about the set up by the Singhs.  AJ says they are not fooling anyone.  He will beat the odds on Sunday.

Out of nowhere Jinder Mahal attacks AJ and slams his head into the floor and he says that AJ will not be beating the odds on Sunday and the interview is clearly over.

A Phenomenal Comeback! Since beating Lesnar at Survivor Series, A.J. Styles hasn’t had time to take a breather. Jinder Mahal has been a huge problem. He wants his title back and will get a chance to get it back at Night of Champions. Jinder wants Styles to face both Singh Brothers in a 2 on 1 handicap match.

Before the match starts, Mahal attacks A.J. Styles and then it is 3 on 1 as all three beat down Styles. Styles tells the referee that he will compete after he was viciously beat down. With a Styles Clash from the second rope, A.J. Styles wins the match. Here’s what WWE.com says about the match:

AJ Styles def. The Singh Brothers in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match

The white-hot rivalry between WWE Champion AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal continued to escalate here on SmackDown LIVE, with The Phenomenal One taking on The Singh Brothers in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. However, as soon as Styles entered the ring, Mahal and his cronies attempted to gain an advantage by doing a blindside number on AJ prior to the contest even starting.

And, despite the pre-match beatdown, numbers advantage and The Modern Day Maharaja lurking at ringside, Sunil and Samir Singh were no match for the untouchable Styles, as AJ pushed through and found victory with a jaw-dropping second-rope Styles Clash to Samir onto Sunil who was right below.

After the match, it seemed Mahal was going to attempt to blindside Styles, but AJ exited before Mahal could grab him, leading to Jinder delivering ring-rattling Khallases to both Singh Brothers, making a clear statement that his ruthless streak was far from gone.
